I remember back in the day, oh, say 30+ years ago, when I could only dream of flying to the Maritimes from Calgary. The exorbitant price tag of well over $1,000 (that was a lot of money back then) was out of reach for the average person. But because flying was so darned expensive, it was an event to be celebrated. We’d get all dressed up in our most sophisticated attire so everyone would see how worldly we were.
Today, we throw on something comfortable: a T-shirt and a pair of leggings, and we’re ready to go. Yeah, the airports are a pain in the butt – the security checks, the lineups, the lack of customer service. But wait a minute. Consider this: You can now fly half way around the world to Australia for just over 1,000 bucks.
Times change; some for the better, some not.
We really are the fortunate few. Be the glass half full! What are you waiting for? Get out there and meet your neighbours!
